Johan­nes­burg, Jan­u­ary 2017 – SNS, a lead­ing provider of sup­ply chain con­sul­tan­cies and soft­ware solu­tions, is proud to announce it has suc­cess­ful­ly upgrad­ed the Infor SCE Ware­house Man­age­ment Solu­tion at Bar­loworld Logis­tics’ ware­house<\/strong> in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estab­lished in 2001, Bar­loworld Logis­tics has grown into a sig­nif­i­cant sup­ply chain solu­tions busi­ness in South­ern Africa with com­pli­men­ta­ry oper­a­tions in the Mid­dle East. Bar­loworld Logis­tics had imple­ment­ed Infor WMS in its 20,000 square meters’ ware­house for the oper­a­tion in 2008. As the oper­a­tion grew and the need for fur­ther func­tion­al­i­ties became a must, the cus­tomer start­ed review­ing var­i­ous options. After a thor­ough and detailed eval­u­a­tion, it was decid­ed to upgrade to the lat­est ver­sion of Infor SCE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upgrade project was com­plet­ed in 5 months and includ­ed a redesign of oper­a­tions, a revamp­ing of inter­faces with SAP ERP and a con­vey­or belt sys­tem along with train­ing and var­i­ous test­ing phas­es. One of the objec­tives was to have a vanil­la imple­men­ta­tion with no cus­tomiza­tions con­strained by a fixed go-live date of the 2nd of August. Among the new fea­tures of the WMS, Bar­loworld Logis­tics is ben­e­fit­ing from built-in pack­ing func­tions, oper­a­tional dash­boards and var­i­ous user pro­files for both web and hand­held applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WMS<\/strong> is cur­rent­ly man­ag­ing a stock hold­ing of 0.5M, com­plex­i­ty of 25k SKU’s and receiv­ing just under 10,000 Order lines and ship­ping around 27,000 Order lines. Sin­gle scan receiv­ing allows for min­i­mum inbound time and assign­ment pick­ing allows for the dis­tri­b­u­tion of tasks equal­ly and with­out paper to the var­i­ous pickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
